2 Timothy 2:1-3 - Grace Overcoming the "Spin Cycle"

A little boy told the local grocer that his cat ultimately had died; “It must have been that laundry detergent you used to clean him that I told you not to buy” the grocer said.  The boy looked up and quipped, “Nah, the laundry detergent didn’t kill him.  It was the spin cycle!”

Our world can be rough; sometimes we are stuck in the “spin cycle” of life and even after the cycle is over, we can’t seem to recover our balance.  Sadly, some Christians have adopted the idea that they “love Jesus” but they don’t love His church.  Hence, they are floating to and fro every which way, adopting and creating their own form of the spiritual life in Christ, and generally wondering why their walk seems to always flounder.  Unfortunately, they have missed out on the grace that is part of God’s local assembly of believers.  In fact, Paul instructed Timothy (and therefore all Pastors) to be strong in that grace so they can commit the life giving information of the gospel of Jesus to “others also”.

We’re in a spiritual battle; we don’t go to church so we can feel good.  We go to church to encourage one another, to pass on important information about God, and to lift up those who have fallen.  Ultimately, we are here to worship God together.  While worshiping God individually has its place, it is much better to worship Him with fellow Christians.  No more pity parties!  If you've put off being with other Christians, visit a great Bible believing church this week.  Get out of the spin cycle of life; share yourself and your struggles with others.
