"Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus."  2 Timothy 2:1

Soldiers: here are our marching orders as end time saints!  Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus; He is our life and source of strength.  God not only gives strength, but he enables us to perform what He has called us to do.  Paul praised the Lord that he “hath enabled” him, and put him in the ministry (1 Timothy 1:12).  Then he used the same greek work for “enabled” when he asked us to be strong in Christ.

As we walk in life, we will get tired.  We may be tempted to do what the sailors did when they hit the storm in Jonah 2; we might try to get rid of everything we consider baggage.  But some of the “baggage” we might try to get rid of is service to God.  No, let us not abandon our post – but ask the Lord to help us to be faithful in that ministry.

It goes back to our basic view of the Lord and our life.  We might ask our self, “How am I going to fit ministry around my busy schedule?”  Instead, we need to figure out how we are going to fit our busy schedule around the ministry God has called us to.  God doesn’t give us things to do just to keep us busy (although one wonders how many addictions would be squashed if we filled our time serving God.)  He has made us builders of His glorious kingdom that is not shaken; “we shall receive grace by which we shall serve and please God in reverence and in awe.”  (Hebrews 12:28)  So let’s keep building; when we tire, let’s go to God to receive replenishing grace.
