Faith, Light, and Life!
"3 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, 4 Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints"
Colossians 1:3-4
Todays' scriptures point out that we can rejoice in our faith not because we believe in anything, but because we believe in Christ!
Everybody wants to have faith in something or someone who is bigger than themselves, even if it is the ideal person they wish to be. Atheists and agnostics are forced to have faith in themselves or in humanity as a whole. There is an innate desire inside all of us to believe in something.

True faith is a faith in Jesus, He who was crucified for our sins and risen to give us new life. According to verse 12, before we have faith in Him, we lived in darkness. Funny thing about spiritual darkness: we don’t know we live in this spiritual darkness until Christ turns the light on. It’s like the man who was born blind and does not know what it means to see; when we have faith only in ourselves or in other people, we continue to walk in blind darkness because we all have disobeyed God’s law. Because we are all born in sin, we are all born into darkness and we are all under the power of the prince of darkness.
Nonetheless, for those who have believed on Christ as their only Savior, Jesus has delivered them out of darkness and delivered them into the light of Christ. (1 Peter 2:9) Rejoice, oh Christian, that we walk in the light of Him who is the Prince of Life. Charles Wesley wrote it this way in an older hymn:
Long my imprisoned spirit lay,
Fast bound in sin and nature’s night;
Thine eye diffused a quickening ray,
I woke, the dungeon flamed with light.
My chains fell off, my heart was free,
I rose went forth, and followed Thee!
Amazing love, how can it be that Thou my God shouldst die for me?
